All ages storytime which uses both English and Spanish to present books, rhymes and songs. It differs from a traditional bilingual storytime in that some material is presented in English while other material is presented in Spanish, allowing for a natural transition between stories and activities and exposing children to both languages in an inviting environment.

Esta hora del cuento es para niños y niñas desde bebitos hasta de edad escolar y para sus padres. Se presentarán libros, rimas, y canciones en inglés y en español. Difiere de un programa tradicionalmente bilingüe en que el material no va a ser traducido de un idioma al otro, sino que presentaremos algunas cosas en inglés y otras en español empapando a los niños en los dos idiomas. De esta manera ellos se sentirán cómodos usando los dos idiomas. Recomendado para niños y niñas menores de 5 años.

Garden Storytime

Combine stories with science in a special storytime at the North Austin Community Garden!  We'll explore the natural world with books, songs, felts, and fingerplays. Afterward, create your own seasonal nature craft and enjoy guided tours of the garden, with a chance to savor fresh tastes from the harvest!

Tips for a Great Experience:
This is an outdoor event with limited facilities, so bring a comfy blanket, dress for the weather, and be ready to explore!

Storytime programs introduce young children to books, rhymes, music and other fun activities. Austin Public Library offers programs matched to the typical attention spans and developmental levels of different ages of children.

Los programas de Cuentos introducen a los niños a libros, rimas, música y otras actividades divertidas. La Biblioteca Pública de Austin ofrece programas que coinciden con los niveles de desarrollo y la capacidad de atención típica de niños de diferentes edades.

La mayoría de los programas se presentarán en inglés, pero pueden ser disfrutados por personas que hablan otras lenguas.

Join Peelander-Yellow for a free afternoon of artmaking in celebration of his newest exhibit Let’s Play on Planet Yellow! Enjoy light refreshments while interacting with the visually-transforming beings of Planet-Yellow located in the Asian American Resource Center’s Zen Garden Hallway. Then, Peelander-Yellow will lead a live-painting workshop where visitors will learn how to make their own Planet-Yellow face.

Utilizing the Rasberry Pi Code Club curriculum, students will be introduced to the Scratch coding platform, create fun projects, and explore coding concepts such as scripts, loops, operators, and variables. No experience is necessary, all levels are welcome. Please ensure you register for all sessions in a series.
